Welcome to Emmaus Sheffield
P

Emmaus Sheffield is South Yorkshire's first such community; a place where people who were formerly homeless will find somewhere safe and welcoming to live; a place where they can rediscover their dignity and self-pride through being part of a working community geared towards becoming self-sufficient through social enterprise.

P

Our Community

The plan is to eventually create a home for 24 people (known as Companions) who would otherwise be homeless.  Becoming a companion in an Emmaus Community is not an easy option.  On joining the Community, Companions sign off primary benefits and commit themselves to volunteering for 40 hours per week in their community.

An Opportunity to Volunteer

We welcome people who volunteer their time to support the Community.  We recognise the important role volunteers can play and we offer a wide range of opportunities.  We are keen to recruit people who can give a few hours a week of their time to  work alongside both the staff and Companions.  We would like to speak to people who could fill some of the roles in the following areas:

p

Logistics & Warehousing

We need Drivers and Driver's Mates to help us collect and deliver furniture and other household items around Sheffield and South Yorkshire.  We also need people to help us process and store the items we collect.  Can you help?

PP

PAT Testing

We collect many small electrical items that need testing and sometimes require some minor repairs. We have the testing equipment.  Can you help?

P

Furniture Renovation

At present we are unable to renovate any furniture due to lack of trained staff , if you are able to help us with this then we want to hear from you. If you can  renovate used furniture, repair things, re-upholster and french polish, and share all these skills with our Companions please get in touch.

If you are interested in any of these positions or would like to offer your time doing something not listed above then please visit our volunteer's page or contact Michelle on 0114 272 0677 or email michelle@emmaus-sheffield.org.uk
